Peace Sunday—September 17, 2017

Peace Sunday is observed on the Sunday preceding the United Nations’ International Day of Peace on Sept. 21. The Peace and Justice Support Network creates worship materials that congregations may use on this or any Sunday throughout the year. Peace Sunday is an annual opportunity to acknowledge and respond to the violence that continues to be our culture’s all-too-frequent response to conflict.

In these fractious times in our nation and across the globe, there is no better group to partner with on these materials than Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT). CPT’s long history of Jesus-centered, nonviolent response to conflict offers wisdom and inspiration to the church. Our faith can and should make a difference in the world. CPT can show us how.

I encourage you to observe Peace Sunday this year on Sept. 17 and engage with these worship materials developed by Christian Peacemaker Teams.
